K-57 Screening Volunteers

On Friday, April 27th, 2012: Friends in Sight headed south to do a vision screening in conjunction with the Sonora Baja Lions Club and Lions from Arizona. We arrived at the screening location around 6:30pm after leaving the Beaumont staging area at 8:00am. By 7:30pm we had the examination equipment set up, the recycled eyeglasses in place and our sleeping quarters set for the weekend. We sat down to a nice meal and conversation with all the Lions that were going to work the vision screening. With our goodnights said, we retired for some sleep around 9:30pm.

The vision screening began at 6:00am and the last patient for the day was leaving with their recycled eyeglasses at 7:00pm. After a nice evening meal, conversation and entertainment the group retired for the evening, ready to begin the screening in the morning. The vision screening on the 29th started at 6:00am and the last patient of the day was leaving with their recycled eyeglasses at 12:30pm. With the equipment, eyeglasses and sleeping gear repacked we sat down for lunch with the volunteers. With our good-byes said, we departed for home at 2:00pm. The Arizona Lions made it home around 7:30pm and the California Lions around 2:00am on April 30th, 2012.
