Finished Vision Screening Reports

Mexicali, MX

On Friday, March 22nd, 2013: Friends in Sight headed south to Mexicali, Mexico do a vision screening with the Lions Clubs in Mexicali. We departed our Hemet and Yucaipa staging areas at 8:30am, to meet at our Beaumont staging area. By 9:15am we were on our way and arrived at Calexico at 12:30pm. Most of the volunteers from Arizona met us at the Calexico staging area at 1:30pm. Together with some of the Mexicali Lions we crossed over the border and settled into our hotel around 4:30pm. We had a nice outdoor barbeque hosted by the local Lions clubs and settled in to get some rest around 9:30pm. More volunteers from Arizona were to arrive a little later that night.

On Saturday, March 23rd, 2013: the vision screening got started at 9:00am and the last patient of the day was leaving with their recycled eyeglasses at 5:00pm. 508 patients were seen for the day. With the eyeglasses and examination equipment secure, we departed to the hotel to freshen up before a nice evening meal and program at a local Chinese Restaurant. The local Mexicali Lions Clubs representatives were present along with the volunteers from the Arizona and California Lions Clubs. It was a great evening to rest, enjoy each other's company and what we were doing as a group.
