On Friday, April 26th, 2013: Friends in Sight head south to do a vision screening with the Lions in the colonial of Cauhila, Mexico; about 30 miles south of Mexicali. We departed our Beaumont staging area at 9:00am and arrived at our second staging area in Calexico at 12:00pm. After lunch and some planning adjustments we headed across the border and made our customary stop at the Costco for some refreshment items. By 5:00pm we had arrived at our screening location and began to set up our sleeping accommodations and equipment for the next days vision screening.

The screening on Saturday, the 27th; began at 5:30am and the last patient of the day was leaving with their recycled eyeglasses at 5:30pm. 449 patients were seen for the day. The screening on Sunday, the 28th; began at 6:00am and the last patient of the day was leaving with their recycled eyeglasses at 11:30am. 235 patients were seen for the 1/2 day.

With our goodbyes said we departed for home at 1:00pm and arrived at the border crossing at 2:30pm. By 5:00pm we were across the border and heading for our staging area in Beaumont. We arrived in Beaumont at 8:00pm and most of us were home around 9:00pm. It was a great trip and showed the true spirit of Lionism.
