California Lions - Friends in Sight
On Saturday, November 22nd and Sunday November 23rd, 2014: Friends in Sight did a vision screening with the Imperial Valley Lions Club in Imperial. We departed our staging area in Beaumont at 4:45am and arrived at our screening location at 7:30am.
The vision screening began at 8:00am on Saturday and the last of 425 patients was leaving with their recycled eyeglasses at 5:00pm. On Sunday the screening began at 7:00am and the last of 275 patients was leaving with their recycled eyeglasses at 12:00pm. Listed below is a synopsis of the vision screening:
- 700 patients were seen.
- Of the 700, 45 needed no prescription, 32 need to be made at the optical lab and 623 received recycled eyeglasses.
- 17 patients need assessment/treatment for glaucoma.
- 3 patients need cataract surgery on at least one eye.
- 3 patients received life style advice for dry macular degeneration.
- 1 patient needs treatment for an active disciform keratitis.
- 1 patient needs treatment for a secondary cataract in each eye.
- 3 patients need a 3 month follow up on background diabetic retinopathy.
With our examination equipment and eyeglass racks repacked we said our goodbyes and departed for our staging area at 1:00pm. By 4:15pm we had arrived at our screening location and departed our respective ways. Listed below are those that participated directly in the vision screening:
