Finished Vision Screening Reports

Vista, CA

On Saturday, June 4, 2016: Friends in Sight did a vision screening in conjunction with a Sai Baba Health Faire in Vista, CA. We departed the Yucaipa staging area at 5:30am and Hemet at 6:15am. By 8:00am we had arrived at the screening location and began to set up for the day. The vision screening began at 8:00am and the last patient of the day was leaving with their recycled eyeglasses at 3:00pm.

Listed below is a synopsis of the day's vision screening findings:

• 176 patients were seen for the day.
• Of the 176, 13 needed no prescription, 8 need to be made at the optical lab and 155 received recycled eyeglasses.
• 1 patient received life style advice on dry macular degeneration.
• 2 patients need assessment/treatment for glaucoma.
• 1 patient needs cataract surgery on at least one eye.
• 2 patients need LPI's for narrow anterior chamber angles.
• 1 patient needs a work up to rule out optic atrophy.
• 1 patient needs a HGP contact lens fit for keratoconus.
• 1 patient needs a 6 month follow up for background diabetic retinopathy.
• 1 patient needs treatment for a bacterial conjunctivitis.

With our eyeglass racks and examination equipment repacked we said our good byes and departed for our stating areas at 3:30pm. We arrived in Hemet at 6:00pm and Yucaipa at 6:30pm. It was a nice day for helping people and teaching the new volunteers the various aspects of the screening process.
